Update 9/23/08:
Wow, it's been over a year since our last update. SORRY, EVERYONE. I'll try to be running this thing more responsibly now, though... starting with replying to all the notes, and updating the memberlist. I'm considering getting another mod too, now, since the other one dropped - would any of you be interested? I'm not on dA so much, so I forget, haha... sorry. But I'll try to be better from now on, in any case.
Why Obitobi? We here at the Obitobi Club believe that Kakashi's ex-cellmate Uchiha Obito who supposedly "died" years ago is in fact the same person as Akatsuki's lazy and loveable n00b, Tobi. Why do we believe this? The evidence is abundant.
Both Obito and Tobi have strikingly similar personalities--they are youthful, a bit cowardly, and immature-acting (not to mention cute!) and seem to lag behind their teammates in fighting skills. After Obito is half-crushed by a boulder, he offers his left Sharingan eye to replace Kakashi's recently-blinded one, naturally leaving Obito with only his right one. Tobi's mask has only one eyehole--the right one. Both Obito and Tobi wear bright orange things on their faces. Though it was prominently featured in the manga, the Kakashi Gaiden arc was never animated, even after all those terrible fillers. Perhaps they knew that if Obito and Tobi (who will have to be in the anime eventually) happened to have the same voice, fans would notice? Tobi seems to have a mechanical or artificial body--his skin is never shown, and screws are visible on his clothing--which would of course be the only way Obito's smashed body could walk. Obito "died" in Kusagakure (Hidden-In-Grass Villiage), the ex-home of the two-toned Akatsuki member Zetsu. Tobi is first shown talking with Zetsu, and they seem to be closer than Tobi is to any other members; Tobi refers to Zetsu as "Zetsu-san" rather than "Zetsu-senpai," and Zetsu's nicer personality calls Tobi a "good boy." Furthermore, Tobi and Deidara, his new partner (a missing-nin from Iwagakure, as you all probably know) don't seem to get along at all. Obito was 'killed' by Iwanin - now, isn't that a happy coincidence? And finally, there are the obvious reasons, such as the similarity of the hair and "Obito" backwards (in Japanese syllables) and minus the "O" equals "Tobi." HOW SUBTLE.
